Glenmorangie ‘The Quinta Ruban’ 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Highlands, Scotland

£195.00

A rare 2010 edition of the now defunct 12 year old Quinta Ruban

Description

The  Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 12 Year Old
is a discontinued Highland single malt Scotch whisky, celebrated for its smooth texture and rich, port-cask-influenced flavor. It was replaced in 2019 by a 14-year-old version and is now primarily available through specialized retailers, auctions, or private sellers.
Background and maturation
  • Unique aging process: The whisky matures for 10 years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, followed by a two-year finish in ruby port “pipes” sourced from Portugal’s “Quintas” (wine estates).
  • Meaning of the name: “Quinta” refers to the Portuguese wine estates, while “Ruban” is Gaelic for ruby, a nod to the color of the port wine casks.
  • Tallest stills: The spirit is distilled in Scotland’s tallest stills, producing a light and delicate new-make spirit that mellows beautifully with cask maturation.
  • Bottling: The 12 Year Old was bottled at 46% ABV and was non-chill filtered to preserve its rich flavor and aroma.
Tasting notes
  • Nose: Dark mint chocolate, tangerines, and Seville oranges mingle with sandalwood, walnut, and a spicy finish of pepper and nutmeg.
