The Port 1992 vintage was a very good year.
The winter was extremely dry, and these arid conditions continued throughout the spring and early summer. When rain finally fell in June it was quite welcome. The rest of the summer was dry but not too hot and August saw a touch more rainfall. The harvest began on September 21, but some producers benefited from picking slightly later.
Overall, the harvest was a success with producers such as Taylor’s, Fonseca and Niepoort declaring the vintage. The wines tend to be rich and complex with enough intensity to merit long-term drinking. Many should be drinking well now
