Description
Vineyard notes: “The 1993 Brunello was produced with our proprietary clone of Sangiovese Grosso called BBS11 (Brunello Biondi Santi 11), which was identified and selected by Biondi-Santi at Tenuta Greppo in the Seventies. For this Brunello we exclusively used grapes from the vines with between 10 and 25 years of age.”
The crop was ripe and healthy with acidity in Sangiovese slightly higher than normal. Some good ageworthy Chianti and Chianti Riservas were made. Brunello and Vino Nobile di Montalcino were also successful, and many had the potential to develop into complex, interesting wines.
Although many wines are likely to be past their best, there should still be some, especially among the Super Tuscans, drinking well now!!!
