Fifth Growth. Cinquieme Grand Cru Classe in 1855.
Vineyard notes: “The Margaux terroirs are there highest, with one of the most elevated gravel outcrops of the Médoc. The light and the sunshine wich bathe the vines protect them from the late spring frosts. A stream provides natural drainage, separating the two gravels outcrops, and cools the vines, thus giving them the cooler temperatures vital for thier development, protecting them both from excess water and drought.”

Found in the cellar leaking with a cork that subsequently feel away – so poor level and had clearly taken on some air. But this is a long lived vintage especially for Cabernet Sauvignon (around 40%) and this turned out to be an enjoyable drink over a few nights in classic style. Drink or hold.
