  Garnet rim with crimson centre.
  Spicy nose, very Christmas cake (mazipan, sultana, brandy).
  On the palate, cherry preserved in brandy, more Christmas cake, tannins are getting fully resolved. Long Finish with a bit of heat and spicy red fruit.
  Can hold but good to go

  From 375ml. A let down after the younger vintages. More like the 09 at first – more piquant and dusty with graphite, and also a tarry element. This started showing some maturity quickly – more pruney and then started showing some oxidation w a distinct rotting leaves smell. The palate is disappointing – not that interesting or filled out / gripping. Some spice and fruitcake but dried out. Lots of spice on the finish. Not bad but not exceptional. In retrospect, I should’ve asked how long this half bottle had been open and possibly asked them to open a new one. Nose – 4.5/6, Palate – 5/6, Finish – 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi – 1/2 =15.5/20.

  Nose: blueberry, casis, dried cherry, leather, dusty study, oak, mulling spices, fresh nuts, coconut, dusky fruit leather

  Palate: sweet blue and red fruits (blueberry boysenberry, raspberry) baking and warming spices (cinnamon, cardamom, ginger), coconut, red florals, cherry pit, stony dark minerality provides astringency, structure, and complexity

  Finish: aromatic, stony, warming spices
