1999 Domaine Colin-Deleger Morgeot Rouge, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, France

£135.00

From the immortal 1999 vintage, red Chassagne is one of my favourite wines and this will not disappoint we had to sacrifice a bottle last night to find out!! This still has excellent fruit with a lovely length. But more importantly it has the gorgeous perfumed elegant pinot noir fruit that I associate with red Chassagne, a joy. I had a full case in OWC all with excellent levels and labels so do make an offer on multiples.

The 1999 Domaine Colin-Deleger Morgeot Rouge is a rare, fully mature red Burgundy from the prestigious Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru appellation. Produced from 100% Pinot Noir, this vintage is part of a “banner year” for Burgundy, known for producing wines with excellent ripeness, balance, and long-ageing potential.
Wine Profile & Characteristics
  • Producer: Domaine Michel Colin-Deleger et Fils.
  • Appellation: Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Morgeot (Cote de Beaune, Burgundy).
  • Style: Savory and classic red Burgundy.
    • Grape Variety: Pinot Noir.
    • ABV: Typically around 13.5%.
    • Maturity: As of 2026, this wine is considered fully mature and should be consumed soon if the storage conditions have been optimal.
    Tasting & Pairing
While the white Morgeot from this producer is more common, the red Morgeot is noted for its structure, which often resembles the red wines of the Côte de Nuits.
    • Tasting Notes: Expect tertiary flavors such as forest floor, dried herbs, and earth, underpinned by fading dark cherry fruit and integrated tannins.
    • Food Pairings: Complements rich poultry and game dishes such as roast duckgoose, or game birds.
    Market & Availability
Finding the specific 1999 red Morgeot can be difficult as production was limited and much of the vineyard is dedicated to Chardonnay.
    • Estimated Price: Mature Premier Cru reds from this era typically range from $150 to $300 (£120 – £250) depending on provenance, though recent auctions for high-end Morgeot vintages have seen prices as high as $800.
