This bottle spectacularly outperformed my expectations and is truly noteworthy. The bottle was cellared under excellent conditions since purchase @ 28 years ago. I pulled it from the cellar cautiously, thinking that it could be well past its prime… Not! The cork was in excellent condition, purple stained and intact. There is a fair amount of sediment along and attached to the shoulder of the bottle. The color is brick. The nose is of sweet dark cherries, leather and a hint of toasted oak. The palate is glorious with notes of cherries and berries, mocha and chocolate. It has a long, luxurious finish and a slight tang on the sides of the tongue at the very end testifying to some residual tannins. The luscious fruit, still strong, sings along the palate. At 30 years of age, this could last even longer. Sadly, none remain.
