1990 Chateau Clerc-Milon, Pauillac, France, 2 Bottles

£270.00

Considered by many to be well superior to Mouton itself in 1990, 2 excellent bottles both into the neck, great stuff!!

Description

The 1990 is a benchmark Clerc Milon that put all those years of hurt behind it. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, this is a very different blend to the 1986 due to vineyard acquisitions. It is almost a decade since the 1990 blew me away whilst dining at Mouton in my a buying days and by 2013 it has retained that wondrous bouquet of blackberry, kirsch, fresh mint and leather. Frankly speaking, you would not want to put Mouton ’90 anywhere near, to spare the First Growth’s blushes. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. It has attractive structure and very impressive focus ” layers of soy-tinged black fruit, hints of sandalwood and cloves with a suave, vigorous, classically styled finish. Superb! Drink now-2020+ Tasted April 2013.

Recent cellar trackers are all in the 90’s with some up to 95!!! A wine for lovers of mature claret!
