    Coravin from a magnum bottle.
Verry youthfull still after 17 years.
On the nose it is verry plaseing with notes of floral and berrys.
The pallet it stuctured with some fruit and tannins at the end.
I realy hope we dont drink them all at my birthday. Would love to comeback to this in 5 years.

Interesting wine, decanted anticipating sediment but there was none, gorgeous ruby color, slight bouquet, medium body, tart, smooth tannins but noticeable on the finish, drank with sausage and mushroom pizza, tasted fresh and hard to discern it was 17 years old, , enjoyed drinking an older wine, last bottle.

A few Mid-aged Piedmont Reds: PnD for 3-4 hours. Color was a surprising primary ruby red. Aroma was almost non-existent from the start, a hint of dark cherry perhaps. It seemed on the cusp of being off, but that’s to be determined. On the palate I found nice fruit, good weight, but a wine that’s off balance. Finish was a bit harsh for my taste and I am tolerant of bold, old-world wines. My wife, who is not, did not agree and actually enjoyed it. Go figure. This bottle was shipped across the country about a week and a half ago, so could it have been bottle shock? Bottle and cork looked fresh and clean. Wouldn’t know how to score this.

Popped and poured into a decanter, and followed for a few hours… Lovely florals and red cherries on the aromatics, an expressive and delicate bouquet with some lifted intensities. The palate is tighter than the nose, with some firm tannins on the finish, but there’s a nice, clean sappy intensity on the midpalate that gives this a real presence and plenty of sweetness to keep the ample acids in balance. Imminently drinkable now, but I bet this will be better in 5, or better yet, 10 years. Excellent stuff.
