1997 Pasqua Villa Borghetti Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, Veneto, Italy

£87.50

One of Italy’s most prestigious dry red wines from the Valpolicella Classico area in a wonderful vintage. The wine is produced from semi-dried, late pressed grapes, hence the high alcohol level. A lovely Amarone that will make a great 30th Birthday present shortly, I have 6 more if there is a party in the offing!!!

Description

The 1997 vintage in Amarone della Valpolicella is widely regarded as one of the best of the last century, characterised by a long maturation that resulted in powerful yet elegant wines. Nearly three decades after harvest, these wines are currently in a fully mature state, offering complex tertiary notes of dried fruits, tobacco, and cocoa

This wine is made from grapes harvested in various vineyards located on hills in the Valpolicella zone (Mezzane and Tregnago hills). Different sources and different grape varieties are important to obtain well-balanced wines with the fine structure that only a few single areas in the Valpolicella zone can provide.
