2005 Chateau La Fleur Morange, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, France, 3 Bottles

£250.00

Beautiful claret in a very successful vintage for the estate at a great price, especially for a 96 pt Parker wine!!!

Description

A resounding 96 from RP and some recent cellar trackers!!

Nose Cedar, Rose, spice, and a mix of red and blue fruit.

Palate is cedar driven, with a medium mouth feel that straddles elegance and woody overall sense. Definitely Saint Emilion, but not as sophisticated as other 2005’s I have had (Grand Pontet, Magdelaine being my personal exemplars for the vintage).

Front shows blackberry, and leather notes, baking chocolate and espresso hints. Middle has satiny tannins, and more dark fruit and notes of tobacco and licorice. Finish is chewy with a hint of menthol and fig with an unidentifiable spice.

It is pleasant enough but the amount of sediment from the age made me glad I poured through a filtered decanter.
