Wine Characteristics
Château de Fleurie is one of the emblematic crus of the Maison Jean Loron. The wine comes from plots located on granite arena soils, known for producing fruity wines with supple tannins.
  • Grape variety: Exclusively from Gamay.
  • Style: Red wine, light and fragrant.
  • Potential Tasting Notes: Although the 1996 vintage is now mature, Fleurie wines are generally characterized by aromas of violets, forest fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry, raspberry), floral notes of rose and sometimes touches of liquorice or dark chocolate.
  • Ageing potential: The Beaujolais crus, in particular the Fleurie, have an interesting ageing potential, and the 1996 vintage, considered good for the region, may have evolved well, possibly offering tertiary notes of tobacco or leather.
Food and Wine Pairings
This type of wine, with its silky texture and bright acidity, pairs well with a variety of dishes, including veal, pasta, poultry (such as chicken and turkey), and even some slightly spicy dishes or mild cheeses.
