2006 Waterford Estate The Jem, Stellenbosch, South Africa

£125.00

A rare “gem” to find in this country, a production of only 30 barrels of one of South Africa’s most celebrated wines. I have three of these precious wines! Please make an offer on them all!!!

Description

A rare wine indeed, just 575 cases produced, the flagship of the estate which is also an unusual assemblage of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Shiraz, Mouvedre 11%, Merlot 7%, Malbec 7% , Sangiovese 2% and Barbera. Aged for 20 months in 30% new French oak barrels. Deep garnet ruby red. Layered nose starting off a bit herbal, spices, some wood notes and moving into some darker berries and earthy notes. Good tannins and full bodied. A nice bit of spiciness on the palate with notes of peppercorn, dark cherries and earthy notes. Long and lingering finish. I cannot wait for the right occasion to open one!!
