1982 Chateau Phelan Segur, Saint-Estephe, France

£95.00

As befits the vintage of our lifetimes this wine is still enduring and lovely!!

Description

Expert tasting note: (1982 vintage) “The wine still retains quite a deep, red-brown color. The aromas are rich, developed & figgy, with hints of red-fruit. The palate has concentrated, ripe flavors of fig & dried date overlying ethereal notes of plum & prune. The wine has a mid-weight & a wonderfully silky structure of soft tannins. Alcohol adds a touch of warmth at the finish. The gentle finish endures nicely.” –

A real joy to cross paths with this bottle and frankly we tried this without knowing what to expect nor if it made the journey. for sure it has and this was quite impressive albeit a far cry from its best years , still was joyful in a very old wine way and just worked very well. Drink sooner pls. 92-93
